In questi giorni \u00e8 uscita la Amd Radeon 6500 XT, e dai vari test effettuati da youtuber e siti informatici si intende che \u00e8 una scheda da evitare come la peste \ud83d\ude42 … ma perch\u00e8? scopriamolo assieme.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Tutte le schede video dedicate, sono collegate alla scheda madre tramite uno slot.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Tale slot tempo fa era per esempio l’ ISA:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Successivamente, si \u00e8 passati allo slot agp, quest’ultimo in varie versioni<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Infine adottato sinora, lo slot pci-x.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Tutte le schede video attuali “non integrate” sono collegate al pc tramite questo slot.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Lo slot pci-x in base alla forma del connettore pu\u00f2 essere: x1 x4 x8 x16 e pu\u00f2 essere usato per varie periferiche oltre alla scheda video<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Tale slot a sua volta in base all’anno di uscita e dal chipset della scheda madre \u00e8 cambiato di versione: ossia 1.0 2.0 3.0 e adesso 4.0 o 5.0 <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Dalla seguente immagine si pu\u00f2 vedere che uno slot pci-x 16x della prima generazione (pcie 1) ha una banda passante di 4 GB\/S … cosa che con il pci-x 2.0 era ottenibile con un 8x e con il 3.0 con un 4x. In pratica tra una generazione e l’altra dello stesso raddoppia la banda passante che pu\u00f2 offrire.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Analizziamo quindi i pi\u00f9 recenti ed incriminati slot pi\u00f9 comuni attualmente ossia il PCIe 3.0 e il PCIe 4.0 e la regola del raddoppio come vedete vale anche qui.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

La 6500XT \u00e8 collegata al pc tramite uno slot pci-x 4.0 e a 4x quindi offre 8GB\/s di banda…<\/em><\/strong> Questa sar\u00e0 la sua massima banda con cui potr\u00e0 “comunicare” e trasferire dati col resto del PC.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ma se la stessa venisse collegata ad uno slot pci-x 3.0<\/em><\/strong> (perch\u00e8 retrocompatibile) offrirebbe<\/em><\/strong> una banda passante di 4 GB\/s<\/em><\/strong> che nonostante sia un valore importante (\u00e8 la banda che offriva uno slot pci-x 16x di prima generazione 1.0) pu\u00f2 castrarne le prestazioni massime.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

La scheda quindi fisicamente ha un layout di connessione x16 ma per assurdo potrebbe essere montata su uno slot x4 e funzionare ugualmente alla stessa maniera proprio perch\u00e9 le restanti “linee” non esistono.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In commercio esistono gi\u00e0 alcune gt 710 e gt 730 con lo slot addirittura da x2 e hanno questo aspetto:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

La rx 6500 xt quindi potrebbe avere un’aspetto simile alla scheda qui sopra ma con lo slot leggermente pi\u00f9 grande, ossia un x4… come la seconda di questa foto:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Dopo questa lunga e noiosa introduzione, non si capisce perch\u00e8 amd fisicamente abbia adottato un x16 quando la scheda potrebbe funzionare tranquillamente su uno slot x4… forse per questioni di estetica… O per non creare confusione<\/p>\n\n\n\n

La limitazione pi\u00f9 importante per questa scheda comunque si ha quando si satura la vram che \u00e8 di “soli” 4GB… In quanto il pc andrebbe a ricorrere alla ram di sistema… saturando inevitabilmente la<\/strong><\/em> banda passante del pci-x con conseguenti lag e inevitabili rallentamenti… Tali rallentamenti comunque sarebbero presenti anche su uno slot pci-x 4.0 x16 ma ovviamente sarebbero meno marcati.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Quindi capite bene che usarla su uno slot 3.0 la castrerebbe enormemente e su alcuni giochi si hanno addirittutura 14 fps di differenza anche senza saturare i 4gb di vram a disposizione.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ma quindi dove andrebbe bene questa scheda?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Questa scheda non converrebbe quindi prenderla se si vuole fare un upgrade ad un sistema esistente proprio perch\u00e8 le prestazioni effettive che potrebbe offrire col suo slot 4.0 verrebbero castrate enormemente, ma in ogni caso funzionerebbe senza problemi.<\/em><\/strong> <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Da vari test inoltre si vede che rispetto alla 1650<\/em><\/strong> con cui viene messa a paragone offre prestazioni decisamente migliori anche se montate entrambe su slot pcie 3.0<\/em><\/strong> qui un esempio dove ha 20 fps circa di vantaggio<\/p>\n\n\n\n
